Visible Mending Circles :: Stick & Stitch SSOO1
Patches are designed for light or dark fabrics. Check the pack before peeling the patch.
See Sashiko Sewing Tutorials.
Baste stitch or iron on with fabric glue sheet (HeatBond) the fabric patch behind the hole to be mended.
Peel and place the large patch over the hole. Stitch through all the layers of fabric the circles you require, and also the additional lines between the circles if needed.
You may like to use a thimble if the fabric is very thick.
STITCH THE BACKING FABRIC ON, ADD THE LARGE PATCH AND STITCH
After sticking the backing fabric on the wrong side of the garment. stick the Stick & Stitch patch over the hole. Stitch through all the layers of fabric.
STITCH THE CIRCLES, WASH AWAY THE PRODUCT
Stitch the circles and lines you want, you don’t have to sew all of them (I didn’t use any of the lines between the circles on this repair). Rinse the patch off, allow to dry.
DECIDE IF YOU WANT TO ADD MORE CIRCLES TO STRENGTHEN THE DESIGN
There are additional circles, cut and stick as needed. Ensure you catch all the loose frayed edges.
AND AGAIN, REPEAT UNTIL YOU ARE HAPPY WITH THE FINISHED DESIGN
After stitching, and washing away the product, check the design again and see if you want to add more. This is a great creative process. As we sew we learn what works for us.
