Wellness Hand Sewing Workshops and Events

Wellness through hand crafts is a powerful tool.  We teach hand sewing, sashiko in particular due to it’s simplicity and rhythmic flow.  Boro and sashiko projects to suit your group.  Sashiko is an ancient Japanese technique, originally a humble craft to reuse old yet precious garments, strengthening them.

The sashiko we use is very similar to the original craft, organic forms, rather than the geometric modern interpretation of the original craft.  The focus of the designs is to leave perfectionism out, we embrace the natural variety of stitch sizes to allow the stitcher, beginner and experienced, to truly relax and gain the most benefit from this wonderful art form.

It is easy for beginners to learn quickly with the aim of flow state through simply becoming immersed in the rhythmic hand sewing.

What we do?

  • We provide the project kits, tools and relaxed stitching support. We can work directly with your venue providers and have a little black book of lovely places and food.   You provide the people and the wish list.
  • We listen.  We want to hear your wishes, goals, and challenges for the event –  so we will ask questions and really listen.  We will suggest an event plan created to meet goals, focussing on the aspects that are really important to you.  And revisit until you are happy.  We love it when a plan comes together.
  • Host a relaxed sew-along.  From the offset this about enjoying the creativity, not a formal class.  We will demonstrate the basic techniques, and give hands on support as everyone gets comfortable with a needle and thread.  It’s not teaching as such, it’s sharing the joy, passion with a few practical creative tips.
  • Location – that works best for you.  As a London based business, we work within the M25.  The session can be in a meeting room, on a rooftop garden or a country hotel.  As it is all hand sewing, we are perfect for off grid events.
  • Food and flourishes.  We are happy to suggest extras, food, gift bags.   Perfect for a corporate board room or picnic in the park.

Hello

As this is a relatively new concept, to bring crafts and sewing for wellness – you may wonder how this will work for your people.

My career has been in The City, in large corporate organisations so I understand the dynamics, and events too – from the perspective of the organiser and the participants.  Stresses build up in the workplace, and life, the need to help people to release the intense pressure that can build up is at the root of this concept.

I am a natural creative, with a very gentle, caring, positive and encouraging manner when sharing crafting skills.  And keeping the group on track and focussed. I have a broad spectrum of crafts abilities and I am passionate about sharing this.  For larger events, we have a lovely team of helpful hands on creatives to help the group enjoy their sewing experience.  Also with many years of experience teaching children and adults, in person and on Zoom.

A taster session is a great way to see if this is something that will work for your people.  Please feel free to call, to ask all the questions that may be niggling at you about this opportunity, no obligation or pressure.

Best wishes,
Sam
