SASHIKO SEED STITCH
Learn sashiko seed stitch with two small projects. A heart and circle. You will be able to experiment with the threads and length of stitches.
In the map project kit we use three of the six strands of floss, and different lengths of stitch depending on the size of the island, the country. And the thread used is a DMC Variations, so we show you how to cluster the stitches to create texture through colour.
Enjoy experimenting with the two sample downloads.
Mundus Sashiko Kits
On this design we have used 6 strands of embroidery floss for a chunkier finish, less detail on the smaller islands.
And here we have used 3 strands of embroidery floss for a finer more detailed finish, the smaller islands have more detail. Experiment with the free download samples to decide which stitching style you prefer.

Sewing the sample designs- you will need:
- Sewing thread
- Pins
- Hand sewing needle
- Scissors
- Sewing machine (Straight stitch only)
- Pencil (Frixion pen (heat erasable marker))
- Ruler
- Seam ripper / quick unpick
Sashiko – you will also need:
- Needle with large eye (Crewel no 5)
- Thread (Embroidery floss or Perle size 8)
- Easy fabric such as a medium quilting cotton or cotton linen mix (lightweight stable fabrics are easier to work with)

SIMPLE CUSHION COVER PATTERN
A simple fat quarter cushion, super for creating a striking design using an embroidered panel, a patchwork square, EPP applique, sashiko, boro design. Here used to create a sashiko rose design. This is a canvas for you to get creative.

- Handles: Cut two lenghts of ribbon/tape – 25cm (10″)
Seam allowance
- 1cm (1/2″)
